Sunset on a Bigfoot expedition

The sunset over the camp
George and I had an opportunity to go on an overnight at a primitive camp in the swamp. The weather could not have been better. November is the time of year to do this. I had a few objectives in mind. I wanted to get into a protected swamp area that is closed to hunting. I also wanted to try out my new Canon Night Vison function on my camera. Plus, just wanted a nice camping trip.

The maintenance of the camp is something I could do without.

Investigating a BFRO reported sighting area

A nature photographer reported a Bigfoot sighting near Tampa to the Florida BFRO. One of their field investigators did a followup. She believes its real and we went to the area based on the Google Earth skin of the sighting map. This area is the best wildlife area Kevin and I have ever been to. Game trails were everywhere and I suspect this is an ambush point. We will soon have covert trail cams up in this area. This is all part of "Florvanic" the land of the Skunk Apes. When they found out we were doing this, the BFRO removed me from their FaceBook ground and the field investigator removed the comment I had made on her video. Its nice that politics have nothing to do with research. Good grief.

Bigfoot and artifacts

Kevin filming the gator
The river we were following along was clear and wild. The brush was thick and we had to forge our way through. I was thinking not many on land had been in this area. The water was so clear Kevin said that if it was not cold, he would go for a swim. He saw something that changed his mind. A large gator loomed nearby. It was also in a strange place. We had stumbled upon something very interesting.

We came upon the remains of an old logging camp. Logging of giant cypress trees in Florida reached it heyday in the 1920's. Most of the houses built in that era were made of that wood. If you ever watch the TV show "Axe Men" you know how much money is paid for trees. In Florida the Great Cypress trees were hundreds of feet in the air. They were known as "Florida's Redwoods." It was a crime to decimate their ranks as they did. When they were done, they packed up and left.

A strange looking gator
We found an old bulkhead and large chains still attached to trees up above (that is how they lifted them up to place the cypress on a rail line that had been put down through the Green Swamp of Florida. I have no idea how these guys survived during such a primitive time. George even found what was left of a low-tech latrine that was rather sophisticated for that time period.

George watching from the bank
The gator was just off the bulkhead or seawall they had created for a couple of hundred feet to pull the trees into after they were floated down stream. If you came down that creek by canoe, you would certainly run into guys like that gator. Be warned. This is not a very safe place. You can get hurt and or bit by snakes and bugs (like I was). When we got out of there, I was beat. I crashed as soon as I got home from hours of hiking. Don't get me wrong, this was fun and I would chose to do this no matter what.

The footprints of Skunk Ape

These prints were found in a watershed area moving in front of a game trail. The prints were smaller then my foot, and obviously bare in nature. With the rain, mud, and bugs out here, I don't think a human left these.

A strange find

Kevin and I found this in a flood plane zone. It was high above the river bank and one mile from the nearest dock. We believe it was washed in during rainy season which will cause flood. Very powerful water can be.

Skunk Ape sighting at Myakka River State Park investigated by the BFRO!

Editors note: This is from the BFRO website. It is about a Skunk Ape sighting in Myakka River State Park in 2008 by a nature photographer. The sighting was only 1,000 feet from where the famous YouTube sighting of March 2 occurred. The recent video shot by the lady was 1,000 feet in the other direction. Because of these recent events, I will be there Saturday to investigate this location and where the women taped the creature the other day. Kevin will be at a UFO event in Jacksonville, so I will be by myself. This should be fun...a lot is going on down in ole' Myakka!

STATE: Florida
COUNTY: Sarasota County
NEAREST TOWN: Myakka City
OBSERVED: I was camping at myakka river state park in Sarasota county in Florida with my parents. I do nature photography as a hobby, and i was told by my father that the best time to go shoot nature photography is early in the morning since that is when most nature starts to wake up and animal activity is at its most active, so i took my father's advice and decided to get up and go do some photography at around 6:30 in the morning just when the sun is coming up and there is light. I was walking down a path that is active with tourist and some animal life, there is even a wooden tower that stands 70 feet in the air down the trail where you can see directly over the forest perfectly. As i was walking down this trail, i was walking towards

Kevin and Tim taking a break

A new feature to this blog are going to be the exclusive videos uploaded ONLY TO THIS BLOG! Now how cool is that! By coming here you will be able to see videos not seen on YouTube and videos that show outtakes and good stuff we just want you guys to see. It is our way of saying thanks for stopping by.
This video was taken last February on the day Obama was inagurated. We were in the well fields in Pasco county where there had been a recent Skunk Ape sighitng Kevin told me about. We sat down to take a break and eat a snack. The three hour hike did not yield much. The water source we had seen on Google Earth showed no signs of any Bigfoot or primate activity. That is the way it goes in this business. You must do the leg work.

Why we focus on the Green Swamp

I am mostly confining my searches for Bigfoot or the Florida Skunk Ape in the Watershed areas of Florida primarily the Green Swamp in Polk and Lake Counties and the Myakka River valley in Sarasota. This is logical, for a large primate needs an abundance of water to survive. With the current drought, his area is becoming tighter and favorable for Bigfoot hunters. The reasons for looking in the Green Swamp of Florida are clear.
The Green Swamp System ranks possibly second only to the Florida Everglades in terms of hydrologic and environmental significance to the state. Overlying an important zone of groundwater recharge for peninsular Florida and the highest elevation potentiometric surface of the Floridan Aquifer, the Green Swamp ecosystem is important to the preservation of clean potable groundwater supplies. As noted above, the Swamp also includes the headwaters of various rivers including the Hillsborough, Withlacoochee, Little Withlacoochee, Oklawaha and Peace.
In the upper reaches of the Green Swamp River Systems, the floodplain forests and swamps promote natural detention of flood waters and provide habitat for many wildlife species. In addition to the rivers and their associated floodplains, habitats within the Green Swamp River Systems include a mosaic of cypress and hardwood forests, pine flatwood, prairies and sandhills.

Trail cam images from last deployment

There were 8,255 images on the media card from the trail cam. That is a large amount to sort through and analyze. The sequence of images seem to tell a story of what happened out in the swamp during the Summer months and I am not ready to say the big guy was not out there. There were a few anomalies taken place.

There was tremendous activity in the area and a large tree seemed to have fallen in front of the camera, during the summer, laying down. Then, it then was gone! There did appear to be a current flow to the water but I don't think it was strong enough to move it.

There were several night sequences when something was moving in the water but just out of range. There was also a large splash in the water. Don't know what that was all about.

Then there was that thing just standing there between two trees that shows up on different days. I still have a long way to go in checking out the images for clarity. There a few to give you a feel for what was going on aout there. Did I mention the UFO rod that went flying by!

June before the rains came

The area is a lake after tropical storm Debbie

August and the lake is drying.

Cotton mouth ready to strike (Fo Shizzle)

Reconyx RC60
The area we were in is a dangerous place. These videos show a cotton mouth ready to strike at Kevin. I walk by it because you can't be afraid or you don't belong here. Go back to the city and stay on your computer keyboard.

They call these things "Water Moccasins" because they swim in the swamp! The next video shows me dredging through the water to get to the trail cam. Do I look afraid? I should be. This area is full of snakes, wild boar, coyotes, black bear and other wild animals.

Work called me when I was at the trail cam. They wanted to know If I could run a call. Not much I could do. I told them Kevin and I were "camping."

The Reconyx RC60 had 8,255 images on it! Wow! There is some great stuff on this card. It is blowing my mind. However, it is going to take a long time to look at and consider each one. The images will be coming soon.

Strange skull found in Florida swamps

Kevin found this skull while we were forging our way to the wild river. I have done Google searches on every type of skull for animals and common birds we have seen in the swamp. Nothing close. The alligator does not even match. It must belong to something that has horns? Kevin has been hiking the Green Swamp for twenty years and he has no idea what this may be. At this point, it is a cryptid of some sort.

We had gone to Trail Cam number two earlier and it had 95 images on it. You can see some of those images on this blog and on my YouTube site. Good things are happening. When you are a dedicated hoaxer, you must work very hard and put in the miles and the time to 'hoax' these things. We are trying so hard on that.

Does Skunkape kill its prey like this?

This was from Enigmaticanomalies.com

Today Kevin spent a good part of the day assisting Tim Fasano with trail-cam recovery. It was a beautiful day for a hike in the swamp and surrounding woods.
Upon finding one of the trail-cams they were both excited to see that the camera had picked up 93 images!

Please log on to http://www.seminoleproject.com to see these photos when they are uploaded.

During the hike Kevin found a couple of different odd things. The first thing I found was the skull of some small animal. At this time I am not sure what it is but I am sure there is someone out there who can identify it. Please help me as I am not a trained biologist!

The second is the back half of a hog. It was cleanly severed in half with only a small tear near the ribs. There was no blood on the ground and there was no sight of the front half of the pig.

I don't think this was done by a person as who would purposely leave the ham and ribs? It appeared to be twisted in half after its' back was broken. I don't know if a bear would kill like this or not but I am hopping that there might be someone who can shed some insight

Proof Of Territorial Behavior ..The Owl and the Bigfoot and lack of comments

Note the configuration of the branches (compare below)
On May 31, 2011 I photographed this owl from across the river at the same campsite I was at last week on my Bigfoot hunt. The same owl came flying in and landed almost exactly on the same tree branch that gives a "birds eye" view of the watershed area (This owl was first spotted by Tom Biscardi who was working with me at the time). What is cool is this how animals will hang in the same area. We could use this little bit of knowledge in our Bigfoot research.

Taken with a Nikon D50 DSLR
The owl in the bottom image was taken on December 8th, 2011. That was seven months after the top images were taken. I believe it was the same owl. Tom Biscardi took a photo of it and featured it on his website searchingforbigfoot.com under the Florida Bigfoot expedition. Now how cool is that!

I don't get any comments on this blog. Why? I get thousands of page views a week, and many repeat visits, but nobody leaves comments. That has got to stop. I don't mean to 'beg' for comments but the purpose of a blog is to get them. I will post more on this blog only when I get a comment. If the next one gets a comment, I move on. If no more comments, no more blog. Take it somewhere else and stop exposing me to this type of treatment. It is not right. I get more then enough traffic to have a good conversation going on. Perhaps I should just talk about what everyone else is doing, like the successful blogs do, and shut up about field research. Show some respect - leave a comment.

"I Do think There's a Skunk Ape in these woods"

Bigfoot campfire at midnight
I was on my third night of this Skunk Ape expedition and had been doing my Bo Bo impersonation of Bigfoot calls. The sand prairie I was on showed much evidence of high animal activity. I did not see any tracks that looked primate in nature but I heard a sustained howl the other night in this area (of course the camera was off).

There was a moon, however, and the sand seemed to be reflecting star light as well, to give some degree of visibility. Yes, star light. I was so far from civilization that the stars could be seen in a way I can not describe. It was beautiful. It was hard to imagine the danger I was really in. Not being armed, anything could have attacked me.

The moon after sunset from the camp
The video below records a response to my howl and other noises from the forest. I was not able to get the same howl I had heard the other night. That is the way this business goes. Luck is very important and in the great expanse of the wilderness, luck may not always be there.

There are hundreds of videos and photos that I am looking at trying to decide in what order to show all of this. I am very busy. Most people don't realize how much time is necessary to be a good Bigfoot Researcher.

I'm Back From The Skunk Ape Expedtion

I am back from three days and nights in the Green Swamp of central Florida. It has been fun, and an experience I will never forget. The opportunity to camp out 'deep field' miles from civilization. was something I have been dreaming about for months as Florida was in the grip of extreme heat. Now, the weather is better and I took advantage of that.

The camp area I had was on the bank of a river leaving its watershed. I was the only one out there, and when the sun went down, things started to happen. There was activity across the river in the 'skunk ape zone'. This is the area that is now closed to the public because of a death that took place years ago. The death was never explained. It is still a mystery.

The video below will give you an idea of the visuals and the sounds I encountered in this historical expedition in the Green Swamp. I am back and very tired with tons of videos to post up in the coming days.

December Bigfoot Expedition is launched

A view of the swamp from the forest road leading out to camp
I received a permit from SWIFMUD to go into a very primitive area that overlooks a closed, if not, forbidden zone of the Green Swamp. I was hoping to be alone and I was not disappointed. I was alone at the camp and that meant I could research my way without any interruption.

The 40,000 acre tract is now mostly swamp after plentiful summer rains. This is good. The swamp ape needs swamp to survive. I took many photos and videos on the first day to show people what the environment is like now in the Green Swamp.

I am at the midway point of all this and the weather has been crazy. We had record highs yesterday of over 83 degrees, tonight, it will be in the 40's. This is difficult to deal with, but expected in Florida this time of year.

A large campfire to draw skunk ape into camp
Last night I recorded clear tree breaks in the forbidden zone, and a howl that sounded more like Matt Moneymaker then anything. My video camera seems to have picked all of this up.

I can't tell you have scared I am. I have not been sleeping much at night. There is too much going on.

With the right type of equipment, the source of that howl could be located and found. It could take weeks or months for dedicated researchers to do this. You would have to have the time and the money. Things that right now are in short supply for me.

Dave Shealy links to Tim Fasano

Dave Shealy of the Skunk Ape Musium and Reseach Center in the Everglades Florida is linking to Tim Fasano on his Blogger site. How cool is that? Dave has been a Skunk Ape hunter for decades. He invented Skunk Ape research. His research center in the Everglades receives reports from the national park rangers when they receive calls about Skunk Ape sightings. There was one when a Skunk Ape crossed I-75 and caused a major traffic jam. Dave has many high rez photos of the creature that he has taken over the years, including a pretty good video taken at close range of the Skunk Ape. The video below was a feature on Unexplained Mysteries a few years back.

Alone in the "Land of Giants"

The primitive campsite I will be at next week (I got my permission today from the state of Florida) faces a river that was closed by SWIFMUD after a hiker vanished, and was never found. Bigfoot researchers for years witnessed strange things in there, and thought a find was close. Florida had other ideas and the area has now been closed since 2006.

No problem. The campsite area happens to look right at it. There is a river, so I will sound blast at night, and do call sounds, and aim my video. This area is vast, with miles of game trails, wooded areas, large prairies and swamps.

This is something I have been dreaming about for some time. My new wallpaper shows the swamp prairie were Biscardii put the peanut butter on the side of the tree when we worked in here last May. You can see the real beauty of this area. No matter what, it should be fun.

I have a van now which I will be sleeping in. I would be too vulnerable in a tent. Skunk Apes could rip it apart and kill me. At least in a van, they would have to bust the windows out and I would have time to start the engine and take off. Gee...explain that to insurance - giant apes busted out the windows and caused massive body damage.

Anatomy Of A Bigfoot Game Trail

Note the lack of overgrowth meaning very wide and tall animals are moving
In the years I have been doing Skunk Ape research, I have now found what I believe are two bonafide game trails used by the big hairy guy. One is in the Green Swamp and this one is in a SWIFMUD area. These are significant finds, for they show location and motivation. There must be a solid reason for the trails. In the trail pictured here- it is all about natural resources.

This trail leads down to a major river in Florida and it begins in an area of large Ferrel pig activity. A Bigfoot would have food and water at an inexhaustible supply. The permanent residents here may stay year long, hence the vegetation for cover, and the summer heat that keeps people out of here.

The forest ranger confirmed with me that this trail is not official, and not used by hikers. He speculates hogs made it. But, how do you explain the lack of overgrowth? Something much taller then me is forging this trail.

The opening into the Bigfoot trail
Down by the river is the famous shelter I found with the water bottle. I think it may have been used as a child's toy, or something. Everything about this area is falling into place in a logical place as far as Bigfoot research goes.

Night operations would be the way to do this in both locations. I would want some type of FLIR or have others with me. I know how to get into this area after dark. We would be entering at our own risk - which would be considerable.

Long before Tiger wears red in the Masters, I want to form a team to work these areas. I know we are close to finding habitat areas of non-migratory skunk apes.
